WiFi Radio FAQs
Q: Can WiFi radios work on an encrypted wireless network?
A: Most WiFi radios allow you to enter a WEP encryption key.
Q: Do I need a wireless network to use a WiFi radio?
A: Yes, if you want to use the radio without wires. All the WiFi radios on the market at the moment use an 802.11b or 802.11g wireless connection, but some have an ethernet port for direct connection to your network.
Q: Do I need an internet connection to use a WiFi radio?
A: Yes, instead of receiving radio waves, a WiFi radio streams radio stations from the World Wide Web.

I am looking to purchase a Wifi radio for my property abroad.I nned it for distances up to 40 metres (garden & garage!)
Are some better than others over distance ?
Or does it depend on your router?
Please advise

Hi Paul
It depends on so many factors (the router, obstructions etc) that it’s impossible to predict. However, I’ve found that all the brands I’ve tested perform as well as my laptop or my mobile, so if you can stream audio to a laptop or mobile in those locations, you are probably safe.

Please forgive me if this is a stupid question…I normally listen to internet radio on my computer through radio websites like 101.ru and di.fm. How can I tell if these radio stations will work on the wifi radio?

Are there any wifi radios that allow you to subscribe to podcast RSS feeds and listen to downloaded episodes on demand?
