Rumour update: iPod Touch has WiFi, but internet radio is strictly self-service

As predicted earlier today Steve Jobs unveiled a new iPod range this afternoon with the most impressive new model being the iPod Touch.

Modelled on the iPhone, the iPod Touch looks almost exactly like its smartphone cousin. It does has built in WiFi, however, this is aimed more at allowing users to download from iTunes than as an internet radio device.

Yes, there is a fully functional Safari web browser which will allow you to stream internet radio, but it seems to be very much a self-service operation. Browse to the radio station homepage and stream from there. Unlike the standalone radios that WiFi Radio Review focuses on there is  no Reciva database of stations backing it up to turn it into a totally usable experience.

So, as an iPod it looks fantastic. As an internet radio it is no different to any PMP with WiFi such as the Archos 605
