The new Venzero LINQ, which is to be unveiled at the IFA show in Berlin, is a portable WiFi radio with a difference. In fact, it's a fully functional PMP with a 262,000 colour, 2.4" TFT LCD screen. The question has to be, is it a PMP which can stream internet radio, or a WiFi radio that can play video?
The radio technology appears to be built on Reciva's platform, although the press release doesn't make this clear. It also seems that the LINQ can connect to Windows Media Player 11 as a uPNP client.
With 4GB of memory there's space for hundreds of songs, videos and images. The Venzero LINQ supports an extensive list of file types: MP3, WMA, WAV, AAC, OGG, JPEG, AVI and even MPEG4.
With a microSD memory card, the storage capacity can be increased by up to 2GB for a combined storage capacity of 6GB.
Like all new generation Venzero media players, FM radio and the ingenious music recognition service MUSICMARKER are also included.
The Venzero LINQ will be available direct from www.venzero.com at the end of September a. The recommended retail price is GBP149 / Euro 199 / USD 199.
