Frontier Silicon Launches Four-in-One Radio Module

Frontier Silicon has launched a mutli-format radio module capable of receiving Internet radio, DAB, FM and music streamed from a PC.

The module, called Venice 6, is claimed to be the first of its kind.

Frontier Silicon is hoping that Venice 6 will see a resolution to the problem of competing standards for digital radio around the world.

"Audio manufacturers want to build products that can be used and sold anywhere in the world.  With the fragmentation of broadcast radio standards this has been a difficult goal to achieve," said Steve Evans, Frontier Silicon's v-p of digital audio.

"By bringing WiFi radio, music streaming, DAB and FM together into one compact and cost effective module, Venice 6 makes global audio products a reality," said Evans.

The new module raises the possiblity of DAB digital radios being sold with WiFi capability on board which will serve to expand the reach of this exciting new technology.
