In the Vanguard of the Listening Revolution

Heralding a revolution in the way consumers listen to radio and to music stored on their PCs, leading-edge provider of communications solutions, MAGICBOX Products has launched The Imp, a new all-in-one internet radio and media player.

Compatibility with all major streaming formats gives users unrivalled choice of content from the BBC in London to Radio Bondi in Australia. And because The Imp is a fully equipped wireless media player, consumers can listen to radio stations or their own PC music library from anywhere in the home.

Once every twenty-four hours, a new channel listing is uploaded free of charge. This means that the radio is continuously updated with all the latest available stations. And as long they have a broadband router with built-in Wi-Fi, users do not even need to turn their PC on to receive these.

The Imp connects to the internet radio gateway, which uploads channel listings alphabetically by country and genre every day. There are currently over 2,500 registered stations and more are added regularly. In addition to live radio, The Imp also enables users to tune in to on-demand streams such as the BBC's popular 'listen again' feature.

Attractively designed in white and silver, The Imp also features an integrated alarm clock; a headset socket; 'line-out' for connection to listeners' Hi-Fi systems and a large brilliant blue backlit LCD.

According to MAGICBOX co-founder, John McGrath: "The Imp provides a combination of rich functionality and ease-of-use. Anyone with a Wi-Fi enabled broadband connection can use it. There is no software to load, no complex set-up operation and no need to be a PC expert. You simply plug it into the mains, register to your wireless network and start listening.

"We are confident that the expatriate community will be a key market for The Imp, " he adds. "The range of stations available allows almost anyone to stay in touch with the latest news from home and maintain a permanently close connection with their cultural roots."

The Imp will be available from January 2006 and will retail for £149.99.
